All the world’s major religions, with their emphasis on love, compassion, patience, tolerance, and forgiveness, can and do foster inner values. Yet today, grounding ethics in religion alone is no longer sufficient. This is why I am increasingly convinced that we must find a way to think about spirituality and ethics entirely beyond religion.
